Some general facts:
Sri Lanka is a Democratic Republic, with Colombo as its economic capital.
It is located directly off the south-east tip of the Indian sub-continent.
It has a population of approximately 22 million, of which 70% is Buddhist, 13% Hindu, 10% Muslim, and 6% Christian.
The languages spoken in Sri Lanka are predominantly Sinhala & Tamil, with English as a commonly used foreign language.
Electric plugs in Sri Lanka are 220 volts, with predominantly 3-point sockets.
Halal food is in abundance, but it’s always safer to ask first.
Currency is the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR), 1 USD= 313 LKR (approx.)
